Our Rig

At last and after several weeks of indecision and research we finally sorted the rig that we will call home for most of 2012.

The Truck.
A new 2012 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ  6.6 Litre Duramax Diesel, fully loaded.
It has some pretty cool features. Apart from the usual luxuries it has heated and cooled passenger and drivers seats, built in trailer brakes, exhaust breaking, satellite radio, satellite emergency assist, etc.

The Travel Trailer (Caravan)
A 25" Coachman Catalina with large slideout, power awning, gas ducted heating, ducted A/C, Electric hitch, holding tanks, insulated for winter travel, etc.

But first we had to do a out-of-state delivery. This entailed a 2.5 hour trip across California to Reno Nevada and back to take possession of the truck. The next day yet another trip to Reno to take possession of the Trailer.
This is a long story which involved the complications of buying a vehicle as a non-American resident.

We followed the Catalina to Reno in our new Chevy.

Hey Mick. We wont be bringing it back to Oz. I fear it would only get a couple of K's down a corrigated road and we would be draggin' a couple of axles.
