Has Free Camping in their large grounds behind the hotel.
There are no facilities except for the pub toilets but if you are self contained it a great spot to base yourself when you are exploring the Forestier Peninsular, Tasman Peninsular and Port Arthur.

This "fortress" was built on an island by an eccentric man. It is only accessible from a narrow driveway across a causeway. I was told the council knocked back his plan to built a moat as he would have to provide pool fencing around it.

Coal Mines Historical Site
Located NW on the Tasman Peninsular.
The Coal Mines Historic Site is outstanding for its insight into Australia's convict history and the use of convicts as a cheap source of labour for the exploitation of local resources. It was Tasmania's first operational mine, established around 1838. It was used as a place of punishment for the "worst class" of convicts.
