WARNING
Some of the following exhibitions
are explicit and may be offensive to some.

MONA from the bay.

Entrance to the gallery.

"The Que"
My artistic contribution to MONA.

"Rosco"
Self portrait.

Steel walkways snake through the dimly lit interior.

"Fat Car"
Overweight bulging Porsche.

An expression of over-consumption in our society.

The gallery has a large collection of ancient artifacts.
The collection of turquoise coloured mortuary amulets are a highlight. They date from c. 664 BCE to 525 BCE and have been mounted in gold in the 20th century

"The Holy Virgin Mary"

This bust is contemporary Chinese porcelain made in Jingdezhen, Jiang Xi Province, the centre for Chinese porcelain manufacture in China.

An unusual piece cleverly made from cardboard.
A continuous wide movie.
Filmed through an unusual creative lens.

"Beautiful Mis-shapen Purity Clashing Excitedly Outwards"
Slow rotating disk of colour.

Put your finger in the hole and it changes the image.

I just can't comment on this one.

"Cunts...and other conversations."

Close view of one of the pieces. Every one was different.

"No Visible Means of Escape"
A gruesome looking wax like sculpture of a man pealed open and hanging.

"The White Room"
There is no print in the books on the shelf.

A very intricate twisted wire sculpture.

Close-up of the tower.

 "Cloaca"
A smelly robotic machine that simulates the human digestive system and is fed daily to excrete in a petri dish at the end.

The daily feeding of the machine.
Chris couldn't enter the exhibition room as it had a revolting
unusual smell of excrement.

"Bit.Fall"

Water pumps that allow droplets of water to fall and form words.

A view to the ground level.

This sculpture was interesting. It had several observation holes and inside was a rotating mechanism lit by a strobe light creating a weird moving animation.

"Cement Truck"
A full size cement truck made entirely of lattice like steel.

Close-up of the intricate work.

Morilla Winery and Moo Brew are also apart of MONA.
Here I enjoy a wine tasting finishing off with a tasting of Moo Brew beers.

Rolex Sydney to Hobart 2011

The Winner Investec Loyal and Second Wild Oats,
surrounded by the welcoming fleet.

Wild Oats.

Constitution Dock.

The Winner Investec Loyal.

The next day.
The remainder of the fleet is in and everybody is in "party mode".

Young Australian of the Year 2011 Jessica Watson
skippered Ella Bach'e, the youngest crew to ever compete in the Rolex Sydney Hobart.

No, this wasn't a competitor.

A Busker at the Taste Festival festivities.

The huge tasting venue next on the docks.

Chris, Jan and Ian.
Ian and Jan were BT owners and now live in a large Coachman motorhome.

Old Chevrolet truck in the Cadbury Visitors Centre.

Terrence, the Fly Fisherman, and his Winnebago.
We had camped with him on several occasions and he joined us for Christmas lunch.
The Mount Wellington lookout.

Awesome views of Hobart.

Hobart Botanical Gardens.

Cascade Brewery.
We did the tour and were disappointed. Having been disappointed with several other tours in the past I specifically asked the ticket office if the plant was operating before we bought the tickets and it had closed for the day. All we saw was a bunch of tanks.

Tasting room after the tour.
The tasting glasses were very light on. It was as if they couldn't afford to give you more than a few ml's.
Sorry, I can't recommend this tour.
Note the stuffed Tasmanian Tiger behind the bar.

Salamanca Place.
This is where the famous Salamanca Markets are held every Saturday.
Here you can see "cool stuff" any day.
